October is such a great month for feast days. I’m so grateful my birthday falls on St. Francis’ feast day. St Francis of Assisi founded the Catholic Church’s Franciscan order. He is remembered for his generosity to the poor and for his love for animals and nature.
The particular hue of brown observed by some Franciscans today with rope around the waist was handy for keeping loose clothing. So I have incorporated some of my well-kept ensembles to represent the Franciscans’ hue.
I was telling my mama if she was aware about it, she could have named me after St. Francis — could be Frances, Francheska, Francisca and my nickname could be Ica, Cheska or France. Lovely isn’t it?
To all my dear readers, fam and friends, I am sending you one of my favorite prayers…..
The Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek ,To be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.
Peace,
Heidi
P.S.
I love my name anyway. HEIDI it is. Do you know that in Germany, the meaning of my name is: Nobility. (Still connected somehow, to St. Francis’ character) 🙂
