To my first ever acting coach…..

Posted by Heidi Uy

Two years ago, I decided to enroll in acting class. I know for a fact that it can increase my creative expression. I trust her expertise, I believe in their team. I can vividly recall my first day, coming from a family day school event of my son straight to my acting class. I must admit at first, I had this jittery feeling. It was like first day of school. Clueless, no any idea of anything –classmates, teachers, environment. Mixed emotions. The feeling was awkward when I entered the room,  with my “no makeup look” in my red polo shirt and denim jeans everyone was looking at me while they were having their quick late lunch before the evening class starts. She offered her hand to shake and introduced herself– Hi, I’m Beverly. Then “thought bubble” came, –I know, I saw you on TV, watched you in the ’90s  known as “Almira del Valle” from the most popular and longest running TV soap opera “Mara Clara”. My first impression– no star complex, despite of being an experienced director, producer, actor, model, acting coach, mentor, public speaker– she remains down to earth.

My acting class turned out very well,  professionally and personally. I gained nice friends. In my acting classes, I discovered fun learning experience by acting out movie scripts. They guided me to relax into the moment and deliver my lines with genuine feelings. In fact, they helped me express myself more freely in presentation.

I learned that acting is not about pretending or faking, rather it is the ability to respond genuinely in the moment. Their acting classes help you discover you can act.  It was soooo much fun!!!

To my first ever acting coach, Tita Bevs, may your Birthday be as happy as you want it to be. May you have the very best in life.

Hugs,

Heidi
